weekend haps.

when the parents are away, the kids will play.

my parents spent this past weekend in sunny florida. poor them. that didn't keep the rest of the ray clan from gathering to perform our sunday ritual: the art of vegging.

well, some of us vegged. others were quite active. take norah, for example. she worked on developing many of her skills:

her senior portrait posing skills...

her attempt to scoot forward skills (but, ultimately, she ends up scooting backwards)...

her eskimo kissing skills...

her shoving things in her mouth skills...

...and her melting my heart skills. she's really nailing this one.

while norah worked on her skills...

matt worked on grading papers, like a good first year teacher should do...

rich worked on growing his beard (this picture sucks, but it's my only proof)...

roxy worked on her sad eyes pose...

and lindsey worked on being supermom.

all of those laborious activities can make one work up quite an appetite.

so we dined. and we dined well under lindsey's guidance.

um, yum.

OHMYGOSH! i forgot to tell you the best part about sunday--we did all of these things while watching newsies as a family. it was, like, a dream come true.

mom and dad, we missed you, but we somehow managed. here's a friendly suggestion: next time you go to florida, take us with you. okaythanksloveyou!
