happy 200th post to you and to me. to celebrate, let's make a craft!
i've had this image saved to my computer for a couple of years now:

and then it popped up again on pinterest. and then i remembered that when my grandma passed away, she left behind an entire dresser chock full of old doilies. perhaps that's what they mean when they say the fates align. whoever 'they' are.
here's how i made mine:

grab a bunch of doilies. if you can, try to vary the shapes and sizes of the doilies for some visual interest.

lay your doilies out on the surface that you plan to cover with the runner. this will help you decide how long said runner should be.

make sure to overlap your larger doilies and your smaller doilies. when i first laid mine out, i had a bunch of big doilies next to one another with little ones scattered all over the top. it looked like the little doilies were patches of some sort. by overlapping the larger doilies over the smaller ones, it gave it a more natural feel. but to each her own.

i chose cream colored thread, but if you are using mainly white doilies, go for white thread. smell what i'm steppin' in?

start at one end of the runner and begin to tie your doilies together using the thread. tie each doily at a few different points on the doily. it will, by no means, be super sturdy, but it will stay together for you. the tying process is definitely not difficult, but it's a bit tedious. okay, it's annoying as hell, but it's not hard.
and here's the finished product:

there she be.
happy birthday, little blog. you're growing up so quickly.
