on being connected.

Just to let you know, I am writing this blog post from the comfort of my own home on my brand new, shiny internet. I am a) prouder than I should be that I set it up all on my own, b) pretty impressed by the speed of the Internet that I'm receiving and c) uh-mazed by technology.

Big deal, right? It's the 21st century (I think...you know how I am with math) and unless you live in a third world country, everyone has Internet access. I, on the other hand, have been kicking it old school--circa 1980--on 33rd street and have been living sans Internet and television since 2009.  Now, now, now, my friends; this vintage lifestyle is not for everyone.  And to be frank, it wasn't always for me either.  When I bought my house, I literally thought I would never be able to afford anything ever again. Taking out a mortgage was the first time I've ever had any sort of debt.  I wanted to focus on paying off my house as quickly as possible, which meant I was willing to try to live without technological amenities for a year until I felt like I had more financial stability.  Well, that "for a year" period was three years ago. Fast forward to March 21, 2013 and I'm finally connected. Well, half connected. I have Internet, but still will live without TV. Baby steps.

Now that I've bored you to tears with the really exciting ins and outs of my personal life, lets talk about what this means for blogging. I hope it means writing more regularly. All of my previous blog entries have been written from my parents' house, local coffee shops, or at work during non-instructional hours. I don't know what it feels like to write from the comfort of my own environment. Who the heck knows how the juices will flow without the restriction of underwire and non-spandex based clothing!?  I don't mean to overwhelm you with sexy images, but I do want to emphasize the fact that I have no idea what sort of ideas will flow through my fingertips now that I have access to you from my home turf.

Consider yourself warned. Oh! And welcome to my home. Sort of.
