last night was one of my favorite nights of the month: game night. the name is so deceptive. i couldn't even tell you the last game we played. it's slowly morphed in to gluttony/craft night. whatever you want to call it, it's a night filled with girls, gab and grub. a winner of a combo if you ask me.

the girls wasted no time settling in to get their craft on.

neither did gerty.

so she was shunned.

kari and jenn made these cute little bracelets.

and then proceeded to model them.

lindsey worked on an arsenal of barrettes for norah buggy.
i went in a different direction. inspired by
this post, i decided to paint my silverware. i've never been in love with my utensils, but since they were a free hand-me-down from lindsey, i had no room to complain.
without further ado:

gather your supplies. i was feeling ambitious and originally intended to paint all of my utensils, but the logical part of my brain told me to start with a few pieces just to make sure i didn't eff them up.

start by taping of the neck of the utensils with painter's tape. try to make a straight line and press down firmly so the paint won't bleed under the tape.

wrap the head of each utensil with saran wrap.

next, you're going to want to move outside (or in my case the garage). get yourself a can of metal primer spray paint.

now spray those bee-hotches down. two thin coats on one side, then flip them over and do two thin coats on the other side. follow the directions on the back of the can and allow for drying time. or just wing it. whatever. they're your utensils.

repeat the process using colored spray paint. i chose gray and yellow. are you shocked? neither am i.

when i woke up this morning, they looked like this. and i'm a little bit in love with them.

sha-ZAM!

they are way too pretty to hide in a drawer.

look at how much tastier my oatmeal looks with that little yellow sucker next to it.
now that i know they turned out so well, i'll be busy taping off the necks of the rest of the utensils. it looks like it will be finger foods for me for a while.
