a simple fix.

the worst thing in my entire house to try to clean is the hood above my stove.  when i purchased my home a few years ago, it was well-maintained and perfectly clean.  it was dated as a mo-fo, but you already knew that.  the hood, however, has always been sticky and grimy.  i tried everything i could to get it clean.  magic eraser. goo gone. soap and water. prayer. black magic...which is probably why the prayer didn't work.

i have come to terms with the fact that there is just no way to win with that POS.  it's time to welcome the kitchen to the 21st century and replace the hood.  probably with a microwave-over-the-stove situation.  you know, standard stuff.

but while i save my pennies for the day i'm able to put in a pretty new microwave/hood contraption, i need a temporary solution.  my poor nerves just can't stand seeing that grime on a daily basis.

so i bought this 4-pack of washi tape from target.  for roughly three dollars (on sale).

and i proceeded to cover up my disgusting hood.

it took me no longer than 15 minutes and was so simple.  since washi tape is easily removable, i could simply realign the tape if i didn't lay it down straight the first time.

so it might not be a permanent solution.  but i think it's a pretty good one for now.

so the moral of the story is that you never need to fix your problems because you can always buy cute tape to cover them up.
