seeing green.

if you asked me to choose three words to describe my day yesterday, i'd probably choose flat, mud, and tall.

flat because i got a flat tire.
mud because gerty tracked mud all over the carpet (for the millionth time).
tall because that's the size of the margarita that i really wanted by the end of the day.

but then i turned one of those lemons into lemonade. i went to the tire store to get a new tire (which is a terribly frightening thing for me for some reason). but the store closed 8 minutes before i arrived. that's just poor planning. i drove to my parents' house and my dad graciously put air in the tire as a temporary fix. and as if that sweet little gesture wasn't enough, my mom gives me a big ole box of this:

i almost peed myself. a box full of lovely.

nesting bowls. there is a fifth bowl that completes this set. it's the smallest size. if anyone finds it, i'd forever be in your debt.

this jadeite rolling pin gives me butterflies. i have such a huge crush on it.

this sweet little refrigerator box also tugs at my heartstrings.

such a sweet little vase.

although this post has been completely and utterly random, there is a moral. no matter how cruddy your day is, it's wonderful to have parents who will always cheer you up.

and there's a second moral. gifts make you feel better. always.

  1. Great gifts! I saw one of those rolling pins recently but it wasn't in that nice of shape and the end piece no longer screwed nicely on and off and didn't look like it would hold cold water anymore, which is essential if your going to work with pie crust with it!

    1. abby, are you a jadeite fan, too?! my mom found these at the blue star antique pavilion (next to the saugatuck brewing company).
