an introduction to pizzarrhea and artprize.

let's play two truths and a lie. you know, the game where i tell you three things about myself and you need to figure out which one is the fib. here we go.

1. i've had pizza three days in a row this week.
2. i've had two severe cases of pizzarrhea (pizza-induced diarrhea) this week.
3. i've put in many hours at the gym in order to counter the effects of this week's pizza binge.

which one is the lie? we'll see how well you know me...

and i've noticed something.

if you close your eyes, it's very easy to mistake ron swanson (of parks and recreation) for nicholas cage (of one crappy movie after another). my heart did a little pitter patter when i thought my brother was watching parks and rec. turns out, it was just the rock. let down.

and now a little bit about artprize.

for those of you who are not west michiganders, artprize is an annual art competition that takes place in grand rapids. thousands of people flock to g-rap to vote for their favorite piece of art. the artist with the most votes takes home a prize of $250,000. not too shabby. this was the third year of the competition and the first that i've actually been privileged to attend. if you're able, you should go. add this to the list of reasons i love west michigan.

and i took pix (spelled with an 'x' in honor of xavier who came with emily and me):

this fella uses a magnifying glass and the sun to create his art. pretty sweet.
well, that's specific.

funky tree knows what's up. go hope!

same painting. close up.

the city was b-e-a-utiful that day.

a true work of art.

and speaking of hot dogs...two great danes!

and within a matter of minutes, there was a crowd. i guess gerty isn't the only dane to cause a comotion. but i'm not going to tell her that.

have you been to artprize? if so, which exhibit would you/did you vote for?

happy october, loves.
