ever since the wallpaper came down and the gray went up in my dining room, something has rubbed me the wrong way: a color battle.

the cool shade of gray in the dining room just didn't flow with the warm tone of the sandy living room. it looked like fraternal twins: pretty similar but just different enough to tell that something is off.

see what i mean?

so i opened myself a can of whoop ass for walls.

after one coat, i could already tell that i was going to be happy with the results. the color to the left of the black (dark gray with one coat) is clearly gray and the color to the right of the black is obviously beige.

the first coat dried in a little over an hour and i slapped on a second coat. the instructions said to wait 3 days for the paint to cure before writing on the wall. little does mr. benjamin moore know that patience just isn't my game.

3 days. 30 minutes. what's the difference?

10 points to the first person who can tell me the origin of the quote i used. okay, i won't keep you in suspense. it's a song from newsies that i just so happened to have stuck in my head. if i'm being honest, i have a song from newsies stuck in my head about 80% of the time. good for you if you knew it.

and i thought the chair rail would make the perfect little spot to hold the chalk.

but about 30 seconds later gerty knocked it off with her tail and tried to eat it. i should have known better.
this project could not have been easier. it took about fifteen minutes (not including drying time) and adds a fun little visual interest. i plan on playing around with the chalk design a little bit.
suggestions are welcome.
And the journal too. Mr. Hearst and Pullitzer have we got news for you.
