blog salsa.

this entry is like salsa: a bunch of little nuggets all chopped up for your tasting pleasure.

let's start with the 4th. that is, of july.

the holiday weekend was filled with friends and family. rich, lindsey and norah buggy played host to the rest of the family on the 3rd. we chowed on some delicious fajitas courtesy of the cow they recently purchased.

nothing says 'proud to be an american' like feasting on mexican food. am i right?

sporting my red, white and blue. the optimist in me said "go for it, sarah! rock those red lips." the realist in me said "wipe off that smut. you look like a two cent tranny." off went the lipstick.

after a perfect holiday weekend, i must admit that it was difficult to go back to work on tuesday. did i mention that i have a summer job?

i've been spending the summer with these yahoos:

monday through thursday i've been teaching summer school to 5th graders through hope college's CASA program.

not to boast, but i know humor. and these kids are funny. like tina fey funny. and that's funny.

we took a walking trip to the farmer's market. and ten points to me for leaving with 15 kids and returning with 15 kids.

when we returned, we promptly transitioned into a jalapeno eating contest.

which i did not enjoy.

i didn't leave the market empty handed.

i was even able to whip up a pretty tasty dinner using my market purchases.

but CASA isn't just about trips to the market:

we manage to fit some pretty intense dodge ball tournaments in on a regular basis.

and the kids have been working on perfecting their flirting skills.

and between all of the shenanigans, we manage to focus on reading, writing, and 'rithmatic. go figure.

it's a good job.

what have you been doing this summer.
