my head is stuffy. my eyes are burny. my tights are itchy. my waist is chubby. and i'm feeling bee-otchy. but. all of that became tolerable when i opened my email this morning and saw that crate and barrel opened a shop dedicated solely to marimekko products. you know, as in the maker of my awesome bedsheets that i got for christmas.

the questions is: what the buh-jeezus took them so long? marimekko has partnered with crate and barrel since the 1960's, but they're just now getting their own crate and barrel sponsored shop. oh well, i suppose the old adage better late than never applies. now it will be easier than ever to pick up this finnish company's (finnish? who knew? i assumed it was japanese...but i guess i was mistaking marimekko with morimoto. you know, the iron chef.) bold, playful prints. the price tag is pretty steep on some of the items (70 bones for a kid's three-piece place setting? i'll pass.), but a lot of the bed linens are pretty reasonably priced. some of my faves include:
this patio umbrella. so if i decide to rearrange the furniture and move my bed out to the backyard, it'll match. gotta plan ahead.
shower curtain. same print, but available in yellow's lover: gray. i'm still not sick of that color combo, even though i'm sure it's oh so over now. whatevs. as is the term, 'whatevs.'

marimekko offers pillows a plenty. all in fun, punchy patterns and colors.
crate and barrel is not typically the first place that comes to mind when i think of outerwear. but maybe it should be because this raincoat is speaking my language.
okay, some of the stuff in the shop is quite random. like this memory game. but it's just the sort of impulse purchase i'd be likely to make. it's cheery and fun and would look good left out on a coffee table.
there you have it. bright, cheery, colorful morsels to add to your home. check 'em out.
