lately.

so.

i wish i could blame the lack of updates on a bad case of busy, but really it just boils down to a severe case of lame.

here's what's up:

on a scale from 1-10, i'm at a 12 when it comes to a summer flower obsession.

operation kitchen chaos has fully commenced:

it makes me all twitchy.

but thank gawd this project has forced me to take down all of the old people trinkets that i inherited with the house. like this beaut:

i walked by this P.O.S. everyday for two years and said to myself, "today i need to take down that P.O.S."

when i haven't been standing in the middle of my kitchen, looking around all stressed and twitchy-like, i've been stimulating the local economy by shopping the downtown holland sidewalk sales, where i purchased the following items:

it's no secret that i'm particularly crazy about serena & lily. but did you know that canterbury cottage carries serena & lily products? neither did i until stumbled across this pillow:

the original price is 58.00 (what?! that's crazy talk).

i got the last one and it just so happened to be an 'r' for ray. and just in case i didn't make it blindingly obvious in this photo, it was 70% off, which brought the grand total to 19.00. if you ask me, that's still overpriced, but i just couldn't resist.

i also bought this dress/shirt/skirt/shawl:

i was very skeptical at first, but the saleslady at jb&me started wrapping it around me right in the middle of 8th street. by the end of her demonstration, i was hooked. apparently the ways in which it can be worn are endless:

after i bought it, i went home and tried to figure out some ways to wear it. i thought i had mastered some sort of shirt style. i went out to get the mail and realized that my boob had popped out. apparently i need more practice.

i also saw the help.

in my opinion, very few movies live up to the book on which it is based, but this one did a good job. i'd see it if i were you. i walked out of the theater convinced i was born during the wrong era. i love the style of the sixties. i found myself having a difficult time focusing on the dialogue in the movie because i was scanning the scenery for vintage dishes. keep your eye open in aibileen's kitchen. see if you can spot her fire king salt and pepper shakers. i know i sure did.

oh, and on the way into the movie i managed to trip and fall. i'm now walking around like a ten year old with a giant bandage on my scabby knee. and gerty loves to sniff it. she is disgusting.

so that's it. that's what i've been up to.
