a trip to the market.

this is my kind of market.

i'm not proud to say that i did the worst kind of shopping today: shopping without an agenda. no lists. just whims. it had been ages since i had visited world market. it was sort of like catching up with an old friend. coincidentally, i did catch up with an actual old friend via telephone whilst perusing the merchandise. that fates must have aligned.

anywho, here's what i was diggin' at the market today:

ikat pillows in the prettiest of colors.

i really love world market's jewelry. i had to exercise great financial discipline and restrain myself from buying one of everything. especially these fun danglies.

i have a soft spot in my heart for hardware. these knobs did not disappoint.

this campaign desk. killing me. i wish you could have seen how long i stood in front of this desk. i opened all of the drawers multiple times, sat in the chair for a while and had a good old fashioned lust session all over it. perhaps 'lust session' was a poor choice of words.

do you have a child? does that child have a birthday? these polka dot take out containers would make great vessels for birthday party favors.

and speaking of favors, i have absolutely no idea how i could use these itty bitty tobascies as a favor, but i am bound and determined to do so. so freaking cute. after consulting my brother and google, i found out that tabasco is a louisiana based product--not mexico. oops. i suppose a cinco de mayo party would not be the appropriate venue for these favors. back to the drawing board.

these coffee mugs were in my shopping cart but managed to jump out before i checked out. i'm already kicking myself. they would have looked tres cute in my little coffee corner (translation: my coffee pot just happens to be shoved in a barren corner of my kitchen).

now comes the part of the blog where i hope you feel the pain and angst that i felt.

CURTAINS!

i freaking sat in front of the freaking curtain section for about 30 freaking minutes. sorry about all of that pg-13 language. take a look at my dilemma:

option 1

option 2

option 3

do you see why i struggled? there were so many cute options. i won't keep you in suspense. i went with option 1. coming soon to a (my) dining room near you: the suzani print curtains!

all in all, i think i did a very good job holding back. i could have done a lot of damage today. the good news is that now there is plenty of merchandise left for you. happy shopping.

  3. Sarah, I just wanted you to know I picked up a Readers Digest book for you this weekend. I saw it at a flea market and you were the only person that came to mind so it's sitting at my house. I will have to get it to you:)
