a one hundredth post giveaway!

image

my blog baby is growing up so quickly. she's already one hundred posts old. excuse me while i pat myself on the back for sticking with it this long. i often get really excited and motivated to work on a project, but if i hit a bump in the road i'll lose motivation and give up. hence the circumference of my waistline.

thank you for reading. your comments are so kind. they mean the world to me. truly. i wish you knew how excited your input makes me. the original intent of this blog was to act as a storage facility. a dump. a place for me to organize pictures, ideas and other things i'd like to get around to tackling eventually. but it turned into something else. slowly, this little spot in cyberspace turned into an escape. a respite. a place for me to write and share my ideas with you. you made the metamorphosis take place. i was perfectly content using the blog as a dump. but then you responded. and you fed me. you gave me ammunition and fueled me to keep going. i'm going to do just that. keep going.

but not without expressing my gratitude. i'm doing a giveaway. that's right, just like grown up bloggers. no, i don't have sponsors who give me their stuff to review and give to you. i'm giving you something because when you appreciate someone, it's okay to drop some cash to show your appreciation.

you all know i have a thing for target. i haven't tried to hide our love affair. in honor of my one hundredth post, i am offering one lucky reader a $20 gift card to target. here's what you need to do if you want in:

1) become a follower of the blog. it's easy. just click the 'follow' button and follow the directions. it shouldn't take you more than a minute.

2) leave a comment on this post about your favorite topics on my blog. what would you like me to talk about more? what would you like me to talk about less? how can i improve?

3) you have one week. i'll pick one lucky person at random on friday night (april 1st). i only have 33 followers right now, so your chances of winning are pretty good. but i'm not very good at math...

again, all my thanks. ya'll are dolls. gerty says so, too.

  1. Sweet...first to comment, that counts for something, right? And I have been following for a while. I can't believe you already hit 100 posts! It took me 2.5 years I think. Although my posts are not as fun and hip as yours. I think you should write more about risque mugs :) Although I really enjoy your DIY stuff and inspirational pictures.

  3. I like your DIY projects and I agree with Em that you should give away one of your projects! Although a Target GC is always fun. I also like when you post about stuff you see that you like in Target or Ikea or whatnot!

  5. Julia and Kayla here!

Hi Sarah Kayla (my super awesome co-worker who can't be a follower because she doesn't have yahoo, google, or twitter) and I read your blog daily. It's usually within the first ten minutes of the day that one of us says to the other "omg did you read girlandgreatdane today?"!!!!! We love everything about the blog, gerty, hair cuts, super shopping savings, ikea updates and home decorating, can we win a visit to your house?!!!!

Also we love when you talk about gerty and speak as if you are her. Our favorite was when Gerty spread poo through the house and you commentated.

It was so funny that we advertised your blog to our families.

We also love the updates on what your dad thinks of the up and comming celebs, are all dads alike in that way?

    We love us some girlandgreatdane!

    xoxo

    Julia and Kayla

  14. I love your blog Sarah. I just want to hear more about everything you think because it is always so witty.

Oh and, now that I've lived in the south a while the correct term for more than one person is "ALL ya'll." There's a little southern grammar lesson for ya.

  16. Oh Sarah Ray, you always make me giggle even if I neglect to comment on it. Your escapades with your canine companion are my favorite, but everything you write about is a clear reflection of you!! :)

  17. Sarah, you are so entertaining. You have always make me smile everytime I read your blog. Your DIY projects actually convince me I (someone who is not one ounce crafty) might actually be able to do some of them. Congratulations on your 100 post! Keep them coming.

  18. Sar (aka Rizard),
Congrats! Your blog makes my morning everyday. I especially like reading blogs about our trips to IKEA and Anthro...can we plan some more outings?

    Gerty,
Your videos are the best. Can you have Sarah post one of you standing/sitting on her?

    xoxoxoxoxo,
    Lise

  19. Sarah, I have told you before and I will tell again (and again, and again) that your blog is incredible :) I laugh until I am crying. I love hearing all about your adventures in DIY, shopping and of course, Miss Gertrude.

It's funny that you would call your blog an "escape" for you because that is definitely what I use it for sometimes too. If work is just too crazy and I need a minute, I think to myself, I wonder if Sarah has a new post??? The way you write can turn the most "ordinary" day into pure hilarity. I love it.

When you write a book (because we ALL know you should) be sure to sign and save a copy for me!

  20. Sarah,
You might say I'm a "virgin" blogger! I think at one time I got Abby de Roo's (love her's) and my DIL Maggie - gotta love "tweed"! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the creativity going on here. The three of you should blog together! You three would probably be the Donald Trump of Blog-land. Seriously, I adore every word you print and as Melissa said,I use it as an escape from my ordinary day! And Katie, since Cort and Maggie live in Nashville, all ya'll better be fixin' to tell all ya'll's friends to check out the bestest baby store in the south - tweed baby outfitters! Sarah, keep 'em coming honey, your are sunshine on a cloudy day....hmmm, someone should write a song about that! Love ya!

  21. I go to three blogs every morning when I get to work and have coffee in hand. Yours is one of the three! Always know not to have coffee in my mouth when I come here. Did it once and my comuter monitor was not happy...

Love the diy, gerty, your family...love it all.

    Keep it up!
