week four weigh in.

i've got bad news. i stepped on the scale at weight watchers this morning and was 1.4 pounds heavier than i was last week. eff. really, i shouldn't be that disappointed. what did i expect when my main food group over the past week was the cinnamon roll group? i suppose it could have been a lot worse. i spent a lot of time at my parents' house last week, which is a major trigger for me. their cupboards are always stocked with treats. treats to which i am unable to say no.

the rest of this week is going to be a challenge for me, too. tomorrow morning, the whole ray clan is hopping on the train and heading to chicago to ring in the new year. our vacations usually revolve around food (seeking out restaurants featured on diners, drive-ins and dives) and who wants to order a salad on vacation? not this girl. here's my plan of attack for not eating myself into oblivion:

  • pack exercise clothes and utilize the hotel gym every morning. maybe even the pool.
  • walk around the city. a lot.
  • pack fruit to fight the munchies.
  • split meals with my mom.
  • avoid garrett popcorn at all cost.
  • remind myself how crappy it feels to gain weight.
here's the weekly snap that i snapped for you. i know what you're thinking. sarah, did you re-do your bathroom? nope. that's my parents' bathroom. you'll have to excuse my makeupless face and horizontal stripes. they make me look 1.4 pounds heavier. of course, that could be the cinnamon rolls...
please excuse the lack of blogging while i am away. i'll be sure to take detailed mental notes while i am away so i can update you when i return. wish me luck.

ps...shout out to my friends, jamie and dave dauphinais, for watching gerty while i am away. it's the first time i've ever left her with non-family members and i'm already having separation anxiety. thanks a million, jamie and dave.
